I haven't read something positive on here in weeks... thank you very much and congratulations on not getting canned!
Just curious - how did they confirm you’re not getting fired / why did you believe you were?

TL;DR: the process takes ages and everyone is in scope. For me personally, despite beating my targets by >10% in the last two years, the way they cut the numbers was not in my favour.
Detail: In the UK the ‘compulsory redundancy process’ required like a 60 day consultation with forum made up of employee representatives. This has to try to agree certain things like the criteria used to identify who is ‘at risk’. Once all that is over, that apply the criteria and identify those at risk. Once that happens, they email the company and say ‘those that have been identified as “at risk” have been notified’. So, if you have not been notified, you are not at risk.
There are HR legal reasons why they delay the ‘you are not getting fired’ email. For example, if they find that it is not possible to fire some people and they therefore need to find more names to hit the payroll target spend.
Would be nice if the US would do the same if this is true...

My friend was happy he didn’t get fired and then they got rid of him in round 2 a few weeks later. Big accounting firm, not big 4 though.
(Well furloughed, which became fired)
