It is sadly lawful. But also a major red flag that it is a toxic workplace.
Hey so firstly I want to say that I am a HSP and very aware of my surroundings- maybe too aware, because it really impacts my life in a negative way but anyway, I have worked at many different jobs for lots of companies- and my personal beliefs are that they have hidden cameras absolutely EVERYWHERE!!!! To include inside bathrooms, behind fixtures that may appear to be apart of the Asthetics for the job but really is deceptive, wall outlets, smoke alarms etc- I do not trust ppl enough to do the right thing when in positions of power or authority- maybe upon first thought they wouldn’t do anything like that but the more time it has to sit there in their mind, it’s like the evil side of that person bubbles up?? But my point is that I believe ALL companies use some sort of surveillance on their employees- the only part that is illegal is ofc the cameras in the bathrooms or locker rooms (if your job has that) but someone needs proof of that in order even begin to try and bring it all down… I personally think that cameras should only be allowed in common spaces and everyone should know about them or they should at least be visible to everyone. But what do I know

Since it appears the workforce is aware of their being monitored via CCTV, yes, it's lawful. At least in the US.
Private property so there's a 99.999999999988% chance it is legal. Doesn't change that it sucks but unless you're employer has a 180° change of policy or you change ego your employer is you will just have to manage.
Lawful but stupid.
