Our Philadelphia-area boutique firm whose practice works exclusively with nonprofits and charities is hiring due to growth. Tax is the basis of Exempt Org work. That is why I am posting here. Great practice working to further charitable missions of our clients. Good WLB (1300 hour billable requirement). Opportunity for the right person to work remotely. Accounting firms (in the US) are restricted from giving legal advice. Outside the US (in many places) law firm subsidiaries called EY Law, Deloitte Law, etc are related law firms to make these firms one stop shops.
Most legal type work by an accounting firm (in the US) is in the tax group which is client-facing. The legal services groups tend to just be internal for managing HR, contracting, and so on, but not advising external clients due to these restrictions (in the US).
I’m not sure about that specific group title because it would depend on jurisdiction and the Big 4 are constantly shuffling the titles of their practice groups around (both internal and client facing).
1. As noted above, CPA firm is prohibited from providing legal advice in the U.S.
2. Tax matters are the joint purview of attorneys and CPAs.
3. Deloitte provides litigation support in some cases, such as forensic experts and technology-based solutions for managing/analyzing large amounts of data. I’m not sure a legal background would be helpful here.
Personally, I’m in tax and enjoy it just fine. We spend lots of time reading regulations, researching case law, drafting technical memos and following proposed legislation.
