Most big companies like that won’t directly call an employer. The 3rd party they work for this will just Run background checks against whatever you put on your application and verify whatever is public record. If the do call, they’ll just validate employment dates.
Sorry OP, I’m speaking more general here. I have no experience with Slalom and how they operate. But in all my experience working in consulting (two roles at big 4), what I explained is how it’s normally done

Whoever does background check for them will call your ex employer’s HR to verify your start / end dates. It has nothing to do with consulting, it is very standard
They would’ve given you a form to sign to give your consent. Read that and see what exactly they are checking
Consultant 2, please do tell, how did slalom carry out their employment verification in your case
Are you interviewing or have an offer? Seems like you aren’t ready for consulting yet if you have no idea what to expect
You’re worried about the background check? Or the job itself?
They will do a pre employment check and some clients (those you are staffed on may require a check too). You may have to do more of a background check depending on your client. Some require drug screens or fingerprinting. Most don’t. It really depends on where you are staffed. But slalom will do a employment check thru a company you will
Fill out the online forms after accepting an offer. Offers are contingent on the background check
Speaking from experience, you just need a pulse and be able to bill somewhere.
