Yes, you can even record them with some programs if you are not the host without others knowing.
But in my experience we are recording most calls now.

As someone with the same issue I find actively participating in conversations or leading calls make it much easier to listen. Depends on level but it is useful. Note taking programs are good but only a band aid.
Yes, keeps your mind from wondering! Conversation is stimulating and keeps you interested. Listening is hard when the brain has other things to think about. Too many delta and theta waves, not enough alpha. We get to hear our thoughts much more because our brain isn't filtering them correctly. It's exhausting. But when you're actively engaged all those thoughts are focused on the conversation.
You should make sure to do whatever you can to get it under control though; medication, exercise, sleep, low carbs in the day, eating well, meditation, supplements, caffeine, other systems you can put in place. If you're dialing in from home you can have some sort of exercise will you do so like a treadmill or rebounder.
I feel like I spend my life working out ways for me to pay attention, but it is so worth it because the alternative will just stress and depress you. It's essential.
