Cannes gave out over 160 bronze and 108 silver lions in 2024. Regardless of the questionable merit of awards, this makes me wonder the actual value of getting them. Why are they important to agencies to spend time and money on if they hand them out willy nilly? Why do creatives who win them get paid more? I’m just trying to understand why we put so much importance on them when it’s obviously inflated.
