Me too ! Never thought I would say I miss the office.

like

Nope. I do think it’s valuable to be there sometimes, but I can’t say I miss it. They’re going to have a hard time making me go back to the office every day after this. WFH since March 13. (Also, I don’t have kids. I know that’s a totally different situation.)

like

Don’t miss it at all.

Definitely miss my office. It’s my break from the rest of the world

I don’t have much work, bud a lot of it is one-off emails and inquiries that take 10-15 mins. I feel like my entire days at home are that now and because everyone knows I’m a footstep away from my comp at any point it feels like there even greater necessity to be immediately responsive.

I don’t. Wrapping up my third week of WFH. And fwiw, I live alone.

What are your strategies for completing work efficiently? How do you figure out how long projects should take? A consistent piece of feedback on my yearly reviews has been that I over-bill & spend too much time on assignments. It’s something I actively work on, but I still have no concrete sense of how long I should spend on basic tasks (e.g., drafting a motion to dismiss). My firm is right to expect that I manage my time better as a mid-level associate. WFH has made my time management worse.

I'm trying to figure out how to pivot out of my current job. My department is in utter chaos, which has just become completely unmanageable. I'm looking for front-end web design work, and work from home. I am a strong designer and basically set up landing pages for large companies on a proprietary CMS in our company. If anyone knows of places I could apply? I'm not trying to reinvent myself as I do artwork on the side and would rather grow that business and get out of the chaos of fortune 500.

Only barely worked for 2 months, but starting to soak up some realities that makes me wonder "are all firms a little like this"?

One partner drinks alcohol nearly every day in his office

One senior associate unashamedly talks about his coke habit ("come on, at least a third of V100 lawyers do coke regularly, but they don’t admit it like I do")

Several partners claim that their kids can do anything they want.. EXCEPT choose big law and their parents’ lives.

Should I stay or should I go? 😯
