If you have an SO and don't do a lot of major international travel, Southwest is far superior. Top status is companion pass which allows you to have a designated companion fly for free whenever you fly. The miles are far more useable and valuable, and the airline is more reliable and consumer-friendly. International flights are limited to Mexico and the Caribbean, and there's no first class or assigned seats.
Is your client site closer to Midway or O'Hare? That should be part of the equation.
OP and EY3, if you don't mind, state your client contact and total fees as well
You can use your SWA points to buy international flights on other airlines
Not going to matter for 10 months. 2 segments per week, and just 1000 miles (assuming 500 mile per trip minimum). Sorry, but not going to get anything special from any airline.
Forgot to mention I already have a few thousand miles (not many) with United & American. So, I'm wondering more about whether I should stick with one of those (likely United) or try to gather up miles with Southwest. What miles are more valuable? Will definitely be doing both domestic &a international travel for leisure.
SWA Business Select fares are typically an extra ~$15 and massively increase your miles. I reached companion pass in 8 or 9 months
The international flights perk is only if you have the credit card
United has a great benefit in their free beat-downs to keep you humble.
American has pretty much the entire concourse B at CMH, and I've never had problems with the regional jets other than the prices.
Which client are you on OP. Even I travel to CMH for projects
Drive and get mileage 😎. I did it for a while and it was great. The Columbus airport always has delays. A lot of the time I would end up getting home earlier driving than I would if I had flown...and you get some $$$
