- how’s the culture like in AWS?

I’ve heard mixed reviews from people around me and want to hear from the community how you all feel? Is it worth pursuing a role in FAANG or just go for unicorns and get career growth from there? (I just had my first round of interview with AWS today)

What’s the worst way you’ve ever left a gig and how did it affect your career?

A child refused to move and was about to knock a shelf over. I picked her up, and as I did so, she dead weighted (dropped) causing me to poke her in the underarm by accident. You would have thought it the end of the world. The rest of the day she said she was scared of me. Then would ask for something (play dough, my lunch, stickers). When I told her no, she would cry and say she was scared of me and she wanted her mom. (The reason same reason she was upset to start with!).How to tell Mom?

Is it okay to get one letter of rec from a manager who left your firm? I have a great relationship with them and know they’ll write an amazing letter. Just not sure how adcom’s perceive if they are not currently managing me. FYI I will get the other letters of rec from current managers/bosses

Would you pursue someone who, from time to time will say they “don’t feel like it” and then completely shuts you down? Quick run down- I’m talking to this guy (desi) and we hit it off. He blames his attitude on the past and mental issues. I think I need to dodge this bullet but another part of me really likes the “nice side”. Tried to have a convo to set expectations but he turns the table and accuses me of bringing baggage/drama. I know guys play this game but can’t we be adults here?!?

It looks like a trend and every week someone posts something about Indian food, Indian men etc. I have not seen any other cultures do it or Indian men doing it.
