Hi, I recently came across Scaler's MS program, which offers masters degree in collaboration with Woolf University (European University). And, I am looking move to Canada in near future. Will the master degree offered through this course will be accepted by the education evaluation institute WES? If yes, is it considered as equivalent to Canadian Masters degree? You have an anecdote that illustrates correlation, not causation. No conclusions can or should be reached from a single data point.
We lost a lot of good workers in my office because they didn't get selected for H1B. I think under the current political climate, the firm doesn't want to take a chance on hiring someone that will be gone in a year due to visa issues. Sucks, but its reality.
@OP that's life. To the extent that there are qualified Americans to fill the positions, why should they go to foreigners? There are plenty immigrant and minority Americans that have green cards/citizenship to fill those positions. H1bs should focus on areas where we have a lack of Americans to fill jobs. Engineers, software coders, etc... I don't really see the need in PA for an increase in H1bs (we already have a lot).
Yeah they might be taking a cut from h1b as a lot of h1b employees this year didn’t get the visa from the lottery
@OP are you in a position to actually know what went into the consideration of giving offers or are you just assuming? Are you a manager or higher and actually involved in offer discussions?
Unless your group management has specifically said "we are not giving H1bs to interns", you can't really know that this is a new policy. Maybe the interns were not much better than their US citizen counterparts. If there's not much of a difference, it's much cheaper to hire the US citizen.
I can't imagine they would even take on the intern if they knew they couldn't hire them full time. If there was truly a "no H1b" policy, students requiring an H1b would have never even gotten an internship offer.
Hang on pwc1, I need to put on my tin foil hat. Black helicopters are circling above.
Based on their intern review, they all received good feedback. That's definitely about performance. I am just wondering that is just our group, or the whole EY policy has changed.
Sadly i also think H1Bs get shafted. I heard rumors thatKPMG southeast didnt hire any internationals this year
@Manager Yeah. Life is always hard for immigrants. Now it's harder.
OP - EY hasn't finalized intern offers yet
Yah, Baker Tilly 1. Some people will do anything for upvotes (please upvote if you agree)
@Manager 1 No, I am just assuming. big 4 usually is known for giving intern return offer easily, but based on this years result, it's just hard to believe all the international interns that didn't get return offer.
My guess is that they just have much stricter guidelines for hiring H1b candidates and none of the interns really stuck out as amazing performers.
I think Manager 1 is right. Why would they hire interns they had no intention of offering? Unless they made a policy shift halfway through the intern period, which seems unlikely.
If a foreigner is head and shoulders better than a a non-H1b candidate then sure that makes sense. You're seeing a real value there and the worker is clearly the best. If the worker is only slightly better than a non-H1b then, why spend the cost?
Oh shit that sucks! I guess I just made the cut last year
I am on H1b and lost a valuable staff member due to him did not win the stupid lottery. He is super smart and turn around wps in good quality at least 2/3 times faster than my average American staff members. Do not get me wrong. I love all my team members but this H1b thing makes our work really hard. Feel sad about it.
Baker Tilly 1 you use that phrase, what, 2? 3? times a year. Be ORIGINAL.
