Competition from my colleague is making my job toxic to the point that I have anxiety attacks daily and can’t sleep at night. I have tried addressing it but it was unsuccessful. It is time to look for a new job, but I’m very overwhelmed. I’m already stressed so looking at jobs on LinkedIn is making my head spin and I don’t really have connections. Any advice on job searching when you’re so stressed in your current job it’s hard to think straight? I have no PTO coming up any time soon

My heart is aching reading this… sending you so much love ❤️

What have you tried in terms of addressing the issue?

What self-care routines do you have incorporated into your day, if any at all?

Some ideas:
A relaxing bath before going to sleep

Mindfulness meditation (focusing on sensations in your body, grounding yourself)

Dance breaks — you can even do them at work (if you go into an office) in the bathroom or wherever (put on some really fun music that gets you going & let yourself go loose for like 5 min)

If you need to release anger, sadness, whatever, do that (a pillow fight with bed might help as long as you don’t startle loved ones) — releasing/moving negative emotions through your body helps, especially if you end it up with a more loving/sensual movement (moving to a beautiful song that makes you feel serene/sexy/whatever is pleasing for you)

Standing in a power pose with arms stretched high to the sky, face up to the sky, also does wonders — you can also do it in a bathroom at work when feeling down

Affirmations

As long as you keep yourself away from negative thoughts about the current situation, you might be able to have a calm/positive state of mind to look for a new opportunity that will objectively be a step up from the current situation.

Wishing you all the best & sending lots of love ❤️

Take a sick day to pause and breathe, maybe this Friday so it can be a long weekend over 4th of July and you’ve had time to rest and recuperate. I’d recommend seeing a therapist to help you manage these stressors.

I agree completely. I think a lot of people view therapy as an additional task they have to complete, but once I started working with my therapist I found I have someone I can vent to and confide in (about my belief systems and past experiences). She’s given me lots of useful tools to use as well as helping me shift how I talk to myself when I’m going through hard times. If you have an EAP program I would recommend checking it out!

Are u at a company that offers paid FMLA? Bc I was at a big org a few years ago, got a new manager abruptly… CRAZY stress and micromanaging hostile work environment so went to my PCP and got FMLA paperwork for intermittent leave 2 days a month. The company offered a paid leave bank that I could tap into for that. SO worth the trouble!!!!!!!

As a new product manager what books should I be reading? I’ve already read Inspired but looking or more. I’ve been approved for a transfer to the AUS office. Early 30s couple, no kids, small dog. Wife will work for the state but doesn’t have an office assigned yet. Looking for a SFH (that isn’t soullessly modern) in the 600-700k range that will suit our interests: walk to a grocery store, maybe a restaurant or two, commute to work in <30 min. Where should we look?

Anyone go from SaaS / licensing sales to services (strategy & implementation) sales?

I'm thinking of moving from large cap tech to large cap consultancy firm to help build the resume and round out my experience. I enjoy and do well in licensing, but I'm fairly young in my career (<6 years) and received a great offer to make the move.

Big fan of the org and team I'll be joining as well.

Thanks!!

Currently working at a large enterprise company and I have taken a role as the 1st AE at a startup expanding to the US. What would you look to accomplish within the first 60 days and how would you approach improving as your tenure grows?

I'm working at a startup where I feel like I've spent as much time trying to deal with product issues vs working on roadmap items. I get this is bound to happen in a start up but is this common? I'm not sure what to do. It seems like no one really thought about the architecture or ux as much as they should have in my opinion. I need some advice.
