Why can’t I full retire before 50 :(

likefunny

Once you've achieved financial freedom, I personally believe that no matter how old you are, you can retire and enjoy life

Doesn’t account for married household 401 and IRA contributions

A checkbox has been added to section - “ current savings “ to indicate that you are planning as a couple ..

Brutal feedback is it seems sub-optimal and too simplistic to use a bridge fund.
I will be planning Roth conversion ladders along with modeling expenses, income etc in Projection Lab.
I can’t see most FIRE people wanting such a simple concept which is probably why it doesn’t exist

Possibly fills a niche for some though.

Thank you so much for responding.

Great point - Roth conversion ladders are a powerful strategy and projectionlab is excellent at that level of detail. This tool is intentionally focused on figuring out one specific problem: figuring out how much to save monthly to fund the gap between leaving full time work and unlocking retirement accounts.

Most people ( like me who started late ) have no idea how much they need to invest / save to bridge that gap.

Think of it like a back of a napkin calculator.

Would love to get more feedback

I’ve worked in sales for 12 years (8 years retail sales and management, 4 years inside tech sales and management). I’m feeling the burn and looking for something else in the tech field. I’m making $140k. I have a college degree but no marketing, engineering, or product experience. What other departments/jobs could I jump to and still keep close to my OTE? I’m pretty good at Salesforce and have thought about a SFDC admin type role, but that’s all I’ve thought of so far.

How would you go about pricing your equity in an early stage startup offer? Have two offers right now with different comp components and trying to compare across both to make a decision / negotiate the offers. Current comp ~280-300k TC, 4 YOE

1) Head of Strategy & Ops with 275K Cash Comp + 0.25% equity @ a Series A startup (N-1)

2) Head of Product with ~350k TC (All cash, Base + Bonus) @ a Global Bank (N-1 within the BU)

Question, if you pay off your house isn’t a 100k salary more than enough to sustain a good lifestyle? My goal has always been to payoff my mortgage then find a really easy analyst role to sustain my expenses. Assuming I’m a director/VP by the time my mortgage is paid off I’d probably be able to do an analyst 40hr week in like 10hrs. Esp at some of these low expectation companies. What do y’all think about this plan?

Whats the biggest tip you have for FIRE?

For me, I think “pay yourself first” is the most important. It forces me to save money first so I wouldn’t need to worry about making a budget for expenses, since I can see how much “disposable” money I have to spend.

I just started this recently. Each month, I allocate $1k of my pay to my brokerage acct and $1k to HYSA (to buy property). I max out 401k and do backdoor roth. And save all my bonus. So each yr, it’s around 70k: 24k + 20k + 6k + 20k bonus.
