Same as you OP.
This mentality has my wife and I becoming millionaires at the age of 32. (We are 31 now.)
Download the Expense app. Set a goal on expenses like $1000 a month, not including rent and work towards staying under. Allocate 25% to your account and manually transfer more if you exceed it, another $100 at a time. You can carry forward a balance to the next month, but never borrow from the month ahead (if you absolutely must, then charge yourself a steep 25% fee on the amount) and add money monthly into buckets that align with expensive future goals like travel or a new tv. Earn cash for hitting good habits you are working on. I get $10/hr of rigorous workout, HIIT/Peloton and lose money when I do something I’m trying to quit. A few months of data driven analysis and austerity will change your spending mindset. Personally, shopping was an issue for me, so I took a 3 month pledge of creating new outfits using existing pieces in my closet since I blew my cash allocation on a trip to Japan that ended up more expensive than expected. Turns out I just like not wearing the same outfit twice, not that I actually need to buy new clothes.
All this was pre-Rona for me.
