Has anyone here made the “homegrown” climb to big4 cyber partner?

My friend is being recruited for a Cyber Security Internal Audit position at a major bank. VP/AVP level he’s currently a Senior Consultant with a background in Internal Audit and TPRM. Would this be a good step toward more management roles? He hasn’t got a lot of Cyber experience but wants to potentially break in and use this as a stepping stone

Anyone have any recommendations or advice for a friend of mine who’s burnt out from teaching? He’s looking to get into cyber or some sort of tech but is a little intimidated. Thanks in advance!

I’m curious as to what organizations actually pay for some of these external training courses. For example, I see SANS courses and training, which are highly regarded but extremely expensive. Most large firms including the Big 4 do all training in house and won’t allow you to expense unless there’s a need, which I’d assume would be hard to justify and get approval for. I’d imagine most F500s don’t have the training budgets for those either.

Is it true that acquiring Sec+ cert will make me more desirable on the job market? Currently working to make my exit out of Consulting.

Need somewhere to just rant. My grandparents got hit today with a targeted attack and took 20k from them, in person. Had to look them in the eye and take their money. What kind of evil are you to do that with no remorse? Also, super disappointed that my grandparents didn't ask anyone for help before that as we have warned them about scammers. Poor grandmother is so embarrassed. Scam in comments.
