The money is around an extra 30k in total which is around 20k after taxes. As someone who decided to choose the money over the team, choose the team every single team when making these decisions, especially if the money is not significantly different. However, if the new job will significantly bolster your chances of landing a role in an area or company that you see as your long term goal, then pick the new role.
Ultimately depends on you reflecting on your values and ~5 year plan. For me personally, I’d say 6 hours of commuting a week (300 hours of commuting each year alone) is already borderline not worth the bump but you need to determine how you feel about it. Do you have a salary / title goal within 5 year horizon that couldn’t be met at your current firm, what about in 10 years? How much do you value being remote full time and the flexibility that comes with it? Will your hours be tangibly different and if so by how much?
A little sloppy in structure but hope you understand what I’m getting at. People can give you their 2 cents all day but you should really determine your values and goals and how to best achieve those. Hope that helps.
Commuting 330 miles a week by car is a non starter
Depending on your situation you could move closer to the new job
I cant, situation wont allow it
ZS isn’t strict abt 3 days in office
Yes. It’s office dependent though. Feel free to dm
That’s not a huge name upgrade tbh. I’d keep interviewing.
Yeah fair if that’s you’re specialty, i know nothing about pharma
How many YOE do you have?
4 years.
Which location is this?
What role at zs?
That’s not a life changing increase or a career changing firm. If you’re looking at going boutique to MBB or top tier, expect some compromises. If you don’t want to be in office, idk that it’s worth it. I don’t mind hybrid and would take the money if the firm opportunity/growth is great but I wouldn’t be surprised if someone passed either
Agreed. It’s life changing if you’re into life sciences. Otherwise - no!
