Currently looking for an apartment in the city and found a great deal near the UN headquarters on 46th. Any thoughts on that area?

My family lives here. It’s a great location. Quiet, but in a way that makes living there really lovely, in that you get more of a local vibe versus the brighter, tourist vibe. You’ll definitely still get the hustle and bustle, though. There’s lot of security here thanks to the UN. Lots of diplomat plates in the area and the like. Great access to pretty much everything you need. Young professional crowd, mainly, which is personally my jam. In terms of safety, it’s changed here since covid. More aggressive homeless for sure, but then again, welcome to ny.

It’s a nice neighborhood and very quiet. Not much to do around there and a little bit bland but perfect if you’re looking for a short commute and a convenient place to get quality sleep!

Someone I know who lived in that area mentioned that they had some pedestrian checkpoints in order to get to their apartment during the UN general assembly meetings, in addition to the street closures for vehicle traffic.

Not a huge deal since it's only a couple weeks of the year, but a weird quirk of living close to the UN that I would have never thought of.

like

Yeah, when the UN is in session, they have checkpoints on each street corner. It’s fairly friendly and just cops and k-9 dogs basically doing their job, given the state of the world. Some of the cops are on watch in pedestrian clothes, so this way, it’s not obvious or intrusive, like an average person walking by may not pick up on the police activity at all.

Murray Hill is blah...and too close to Midtown. personally I’d pay more for a better neighborhood

like

Fair point - I just felt like you need to get through Murray Hill / Midtown to actually do things (which is why I considered it all one big neighborhood), but based on what’s below, seems like that’s either not the case or it’s negligible!

like

Totally depends on how old you are / what stage of life / what you are looking for... I lived on 46/2 and it was very quiet, not too many restaurant options (need to go up in the 50s) and most things in the area shut down pretty early

Need some inputs. My BU just went into a reorg which has benefitted me and I got a promise to a fast track promotion within 18 months of my joining. However, I’m passionate about a pm role and have got an offer for a rotation position. I’m not sure how to bring it up to my supervisor considering they made that promise only recently. How would you approach this situation

Hey guys, so I have competing offers. One at Bank of America for 124, and one at Allspring for 110.

Does anybody work at Allspring? They did not provide any information regarding benefits, 401k match, or any annual bonus structure. I was told, verbally, that the Bank of America bonus is something like 15 to 20%, but nothing in writing.

Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge about compensation structure at Allspring, or any opinions on the culture there. I would be in Charlotte.
