Does it matter? None of these letters mean anything anymore. If I were a client I honestly wouldn’t know the difference between them.
DDB is gonna be the first one to disappear.
Good foresight.
McCann, DDB and TBWA (especially the NY office) are not doing well.
I’m interviewing at tbwa and in NY…,what’s the deal ?
Seems like the ship is sinking on the agency model …
All the omnicom brands have already been merged into OAG in a few countries
The ones from IPG will go first. From Mullenlowe to R/GA to Deutsch to FCB.
Pro
R/GA is history. Already sold off to PE.
My take. BBDO reins supreme as the big daddy global agency brand. Maybe they keep DDB as a Chicago lead or make it all adam&eve as a “creative offering”, TBWA/Chiat rules LA. Apple is too important to fuck up. FCB gets absorbed and broken up depending on conflicts. Mullen stays as “creative boutique”. I could see some genius creating a creative collective amongst the smaller shops like Goodby, Mullen, Martin, Deutsch LA, etc. McCann stays as the other big daddy global agency brand. The only reason for holding cos for clients is global reach and deep bench capabilities throughout marketing. Global agency brands will be the focus. Using them as conflict shops for massive clients. Then creating major market hubs based on a lead agency. EG Goodby x SF, TBWA Chiat x LA, DDB x Chi, Mullen x Boston, GSD&M x Austin.
Mash them all into one and call it 'Alphabet'
I’m old enough to remember the formation of Omnicom in 1986. AdAge called the merger of DDB, Needham, and BBDO the “Porky Pig agency” from the sound of it 🤣
BBDO has already shut down in Toronto.
