Hire a housekeeper to come in twice a month. It’s the best investment. I also have a large lab, and two kids. I do still vacuum a few times to get up the dog hair, but she does a wonderful job at getting the floors sparkling clean.
I’ll add: a robo cleaner would be great for keeping the floors clean in-between the housekeeper coming to clean!
We use the robo vacuum for the kitchen / main areas 1-2 times a week - it’s awesome. And then we have a cleaner come once a month to mop and clean the rest of the house, including bathrooms, change the sheets, etc. It’s really nice. Id do twice a month but its just expensive
We have the Roomba - we were gifted a used one and it works just fine once we set it up to map the house
Tbh they’re not fungible, and if you have a dog and kids both is the answer.
I love our robot vacuum, we had one with a mopping feature but never really used that (it was a pain to set up and keep clean). I just run the vacuum multiple times a week and use a swiffer wet jet on the hard floors (usually during a conference call I don’t really have to participate in). We’ve had the fancy Roomba ones and the off brand Amazon ones - we stick with off brand ones at this point; the robot vacuum is our bulldog’s nemesis and it’s only matter of time before she destroys it.
Definitely spring for the cleaner! I still vacuum the main areas every day (4 kids, 2 dogs) but leave the mopping and polishing to the crew. The Roomba was a waste for us. I hated the noise and it took forever.
Just bought that Narwal Freo Z from Costco - amazing to vacuum and mop at the same times. Runs every other night in mop mode and every night in vacuum mode. Cleaner comes in every 2x for bathrooms deep clean and once a month for full house.
We have 3 under 5 and invested in Roborock qrevo pro last year. We run it in our kitchen and dinette like 3 times a day and it has been life changing. Also run it in the mud room area once every couple days.
Still need regular cleaner once a month or once every 3 weeks for bathrooms countertops etc.
I think the key is to read reviews and invest in one that has really great obstacle avoidance and the dock is low maintenance. For the Roborock, every week or so we have to empty the dirty water tank and refill the clean water tank and once every few months we have to replace the vaccuum filter/bag.
We love the Roborock. It has changed our quality of life 😂
