Did you tell clients when you were going out on maternity leave? I work on some matters with limited partner involvement and I’m concerned they will be mad I didn’t tell them. My supervising partner told me not to say anything and let them find out once I’m out. My maternity leave is coming up in a few weeks and now I’m afraid I’ll be bombarded with work if I tell them.

How do you approach a stinky middle school kid or their parents with hygiene suggestions? I don’t know how to politely tell anyone that they smell bad.

Here’s a hypothetical:

A company has 2 candidates, aged 25-30, equal in every respect save one’s a man the other’s a woman. Maybe the woman is a slightly better candidate overall. They’d have equal comp.

Company considers the woman a riskier bet due to possibility she’ll take maternity leave — and considers the man less risky for his ineligibility to take as much leave. 🤷
