Well are they setup currently to succeed? Do they have a positive outlook for their future or are they completely bogged down mentally. I didn’t get my stuff together until working through some of my mental/ confidence issues. Ie getting a good job, healthier mentally and physically. That made me more inclined to care about my future.

I think this is the likely cause. Other generations grew up with standards of living rising alongside real wage growth.
Zoomers have mostly experienced a slew of "unprecedented events"
Here is a question for you: Are you paying for their entertainment and hobbies? Or are they?
We were motivated to get out and get to it because our parents didn’t just give us a blank check. They may have assisted us but they made sure we had skin in the game too. We are not instilling a work ethic into our kids and instead are enabling their passiveness and entitlement.
These are things that I battling as a dad with my kids too.
As a zillennial, I didn’t really care about my future nor took school seriously. I didn’t become serious until entering the workforce. I think seeing my peers/friends succeed and earning my own money is what gave me motivation.
Do you wish you took school more seriously?
They are still young and not likely to be thinking seriously about the future.
The age range of a zoomer is anywhere between 13 and 28 years old, if they are at the top of the age range nearing 30 then there definitely needs to be a change in direction for them to be more interested in their future. Its such a broad age range, hopefully she means they are moreso on the teens or early 20s. I think there is cause for concern if they are on the older side of the zoomers, because they will be competing with people in the workforce that have instilled a work ethic by then
They are kids. How old are they? Were you that thoughtful about your future when you were young? I know I wasn’t. High school graduation was a long way off. College graduation was a long way off. Kids/house/job?? Fuggedabout it!
Until I was about 32 or so, all I really cared too much about was 1) getting through school with decent grades 2) having a good time with my friends and 3) making enough money at something so I could have a good time with my friends.
I’d say it’s more important that 1) they are good and kind people and 2) have a decent education so that when they do figure out what they want to do, they are prepared. And 3) they don’t make any babies yet and 4) they stay away from drugs.
If they do all that, it’ll work out eventually.
Yes. I was more career focused at 25.
Tell them you are done helping them financially, if they are living with you give them a deadline to move out or start charging rent. I don't understand kids today.
