Do any of you have properties? How much was your first property, how much did you put towards the down payment and how much did you have in your savings?

I have a condo in north suburbs of Atlanta. It was $135k back in 2019, put $27k down, and I had around $35k in savings (not including my HSA or Roth IRA)

It’s been great! I was losing a few thousand a year initially the first two years bc of repairs and HOA assessments that came up but this year I have been cash flowing well, and expect it should continue to do better since rent is increased every year and most major appliances have been replaced recently

I got an apartment for 610k, put 200k down, had around 10k in savings left. Love the place and really happy I did it

This is in Stockholm though so interest rates are lower at 1% when I bought the place, at 3% now

Potentially dumb question here: I am starting law school soon and will not be employed (net income of $0 assuming I don’t get a good summer internship next summer). Does it make sense for me to sell my personal investments next year (assuming my income will still be zero) so I’m paying a 0% capital gains tax rate? I’d just rebuy all of the same stocks immediately… am I missing something?

Does anyone feel like they don’t want to go back to normal? On the one hand, absolutely I want to. I miss seeing friends, dressing up, going out, and traveling for work. On the other hand I have saved so much money over the past year, spent a lot more time with family than I would have ever been able to, and actually rested and been able to focus on my wellness (started therapy and treatment for a chronic condition.)

I guess they didn’t like bleeding so they’re trying to manipulate the markets in their favor AGAIN.

Crying for my RSUs….started at my company about 6 months ago and got some RSUs split over 3 years. Turns out the stock price at time of my hiring (which is what was used to calculate the number of shares over the three years) was the highest it’s ever been. Stock price has been cut in half since then, along with my RSU value. 😭 how do I cope?

So something crazy happened to me last week. I was at the airport, and as usual on call after call. The check in line was going ridiculously slowly and at some point turned threw my hands up in frustration while looking around to find another place to check in. In doing so, I catch the eye of the behind me. He smiles and says something. I just sort of nod and carry on with my call. After that, he keeps trying to talk to me, eventually I got to the check, say bye and leave. At security… tbc
