Do tech certifications actually make you a better engineer? I just got passed over for a cloud engineer role in favor of someone who has five AWS certifications but has never actually managed a production environment. I’ve been running infrastructure out of necessity at my current startup for three years, but because I don’t have a specific piece of digital paper, the enterprise hiring manager assumed I didn't know the fundamentals.
