😄😄 it isn’t only Gen AI but all data science. I was asked by my boss and division manager to develop and productionize 54 models in 3 weeks (no joke). When I told them it couldn’t be done their response to me was ‘well you’re a modeler aren’t you?’ They are slowly - very slowly - starting to understand what is involved in data science
Over time yes. But it was very difficult initially. Senior management does not like to admit they really don’t know something. That said, this project has progressed well over some 9 months. Still, there has been a lot of ‘course correcting’ over time because leaders didn’t really know what they wanted or what was possible.
What do you mean? Are you saying people start thinking everything is possible with AI?
Exactly that. Thinking trustworthy value and insights are a click away. Not saying we won’t get there, but today most enterprises are in early stages of adaptation and use.
Gen AI is disruptive to the traditional model of AI.
Before, it would take weeks or months to define a model, train it, and then tune hyperparameters.
Now, we can build a prototype in days or hours.
That doesn’t mean that AI is a magic box. It does mean that model development is evolving.
I had a similar discussion yesterday with a colleague - his job has evolved from building, training and testing the models to now sending multiple api’s to retrieve results. Having said that he didn’t seem all that worried about ai encroaching on his work.
