What’s better about data engineering? I’m about to pick tween a data science role and data engineering myself, would love input
Some people hate how open ended data science can be while data engineering has is a clear end product.
Personally I do enjoying working on data engineering tasks every so often (not full time though).

Data Analytics to Data Engineering is a significant jump even for junior positions. What sort of experience and skills you have.

Agreed C2. Its exact what you mentioned that OP hasn’t gone through fundamental learning curve in the area.
I was trained in the hadoop ecosystem, but my first project was mainly analyzing data sets and creating tableau visualizations. Unfortunately my Hadoop experience only goes as far as training, there was no actual work experience.

I would recommend to get some experience before making the jump. One good option would be to get familiarized with cloud Data Engineering. Coursera has good material on GCP for instance. It would set the foundations for you and give some credibility as well.
Remember hiring is a short term marriage- has to work both ways.
