Were you drug tested as part of your federal district court clerkship background check?

They don’t drug test in CA district courts. With that being said (and with the preface that I otherwise have no opinion on drug use), in my opinion it can be considered unethical to use drugs while working for an organization enforcing prohibitive drug use laws — and incarcerating people for violating such laws. Particularly if your judge has clerks work on criminal cases.

Nope, absolutely no background check/drug test (fed. dist. Ohio)

like

Yes in AZ, policy is to drug test all courthouse employees.

like

No in EDNY.

Nope

No in FL.

Nope in Florida

No (North Carolina)

No (TN)

No (WA)

No. Two federal clerkships - no drug tests.

Disagree with first response. I think using drugs while doing judicial work will increase your empathy towards those before you on such charges, and will generally make the whole experience much better 🙃

Hi everyone, I am getting ready for a job interview, and need to create a media plan. I was hoping someone can help me with the next task: basically, I need to create inventory recommendation based on past performance. What I am very confused about is that they gave me Booked Impressions (=4M), but in the task it says I should assume there is unlimited inventory. Am I supposed to use this 4M only to calculate spend, ROAS, etc., but can actually have unlimited allocated impressions? Thank you!

Still WFH? What are other chambers doing for task management? Our chambers has been keeping up with assignments, incoming emails needing judge’s eyes, and written orders, all through Microsoft Planner. We share PDFs through Sharepoint folders. Although we still email draft orders back and forth, the system seems to work well enough. We still aren’t operating at our previous capacity because it takes 10x the number of steps to get a motion heard or an order entered—90% of our workload.

Is it the smart move to take a pay cut and clerk for a judge?

Little context: I was an ED student, full time paralegal/clerk throughout my law school experience, and a single mother. I did not take advantage of the law school extracurriculars and missed out on clerk application deadlines my final year (2020). Would it benefit me to take a pay cut as a transactional clerk by about $20k to work as a clerk for a year then re-enter firm life? I’m transactional and enjoy that line of work.
