Do transferrable skills happen anymore? Job ads are all so specific now and it feels like you have to have done EXACTLY that job to get a chance to even be interviewed.

Sure. I have not written copy for exactly that market. but I have one very similar, yet that never seems enough anymore.

I don't believe that is true.. Job postings are the idea of the perfect candidate that would be nice to have, but they don't need someone matching exactly what they need, but as much as possible of that. I have written keywords on white to show on ATS, but not to be visible to human eyes. Have you seen that? It worked for me.

Not only job ads, but the AI filtering system that they use makes it almost impossible to get any job except for the exact one you currently have. It's actually kind of crazy and I wonder how anybody is ever expected to change careers, or if we are all locked in for life.

Not even changing careers, going from writing content about one subject to another is apparently difficult enough.

I always think of a job is interesting to you and you have transferable skills for it you might as well apply- I’ve hired people who don’t have the perfect skills needed for the job but they have transferable ones and the right attitude

I’m negotiating my salary, and I’m curious what a reporter/digital editorial lead makes at your company? I have 15+ years of experience in employee communications and TV news, and I live in the Seattle area. I report to my director who reports to our SVP, and I’ve worked for this Fortune 20 company for 10 yrs. Any info would be helpful. Thank you!

One of my direct reports has asked about going part time. They currently manage special reports in a bi-weekly publication, working closely with sales, freelance writers, and an internal designer. Job duties are primarily project management and editing/proofreading. As the first read on articles, they need to have an understanding of the material (business/regulation). Has anyone had experience with job sharing in this type of a role?
