Landing in Dallas at night

I had an interview w/ the Hiring Manager at Boston Consulting Group for a position and it went so well that the HM said on the spot I was going to be moving onto the next round. Its been weeks since that interview & I've had to follow up w/ the recruiter 3x asking for an update. I mentioned interviewing elsewhere but prioritizing BCG. He finally responded to that saying he was going to debrief with the HM and get back to me but nothing... what gives?

The center stone in my engagement ring is lab, but the surrounding stones and stones on my wedding band are natural. Our jeweler actually recommended this as he could guarantee the center stone would be a specific high quality, cut and size in the time frame my husband was looking for. Bonus was that it also saved us thousands of dollars! I have had one person specifically ask if it was lab in 3 years, but otherwise no one knows / cares.
Never thought to put this combo together (lab center stone, natural diamonds elsewhere). I love it!!
My engagement ring and diamond studs are natural diamonds, however, I wear a lab grown stone ring in lieu of my engagement ring most of the time. More environmentally and human friendly, better price, no difference in appearance.
If they want it, sure, but we have more interesting/appealing family stones they’d probably want more.
I’m looking at rings with my boyfriend and we’ve decided lab grown. Not only do you save money (which I would rather use for a honeymoon, house, the wedding itself) but it feels a lot more ethical. With no difference in appearance, it doesn’t really make sense to me why people insist on going natural. I would much rather do lab grown just for the ethical reasons even if the price was the same
No it doesn't matter to me. It's the thought that counts plus that money saved could go towards a house, new vehicle, nice vacation or even furthering education.
This is super individual, so recommend to just ask your partner. I’d rather have a plain band without a stone than a lab grown diamond for a multitude of reasons.
In the end, only a jeweler will be able to tell the difference, and it’s none of anyone’s business what you decide. HOWEVER do not lie to your partner. It’s pretty easy to find out and you’ll look like an idiot when it comes out (eg, insuring it, taking it in to get cleaned, etc.). Socially, both men and women have a pretty good idea of how much diamonds costs, so if you have a perfect 3 carat ring and a $100k+ ring doesn’t align with your general vibe, it will be obvious, so take other’s advice that you buy the ring you would have and just pocket the difference, not say “I have $2k, what’s the biggest ring I can buy.”
We’ve been looking at a rings for the past few weeks and hes open to either. I think its more so me being indecisive. Another commenter made a god point, if i decide lab grown thats money we can put towards our honeymoon, or a house.
Personally, I wanted a hand cut diamond which is a lost craft so natural antique stone was the only option. If I was okay with a laser cut diamond I would just have gone lab.
As others have said, ask your partner, everyone has their own preference.

One of the reasons " rock" is a bit of a thing now in engagement rings is so many are grown. Not only less expensive, but also no flaws. My mom has about a carat natural diamond set in a combo engagement/wedding band. Without close inspection you wouldn't notice any, but that is also helped by the setting. I also know 5 years in, it fell out of the setting. Insured, but you can't ever get a diamond that is exactly the same as the original. With a lab grown, you can.
Everyone of my peers ( me included) have lab grown. Asking for natural feels more like a measuring how much you love me by how much you spend. It's not an investment, you aren't going to sell it. Going lab paid for a band at our reception and our honeymoon. ( and he bought one larger that I expected and I love it!)
And no one has ever asked, but I'm not embarrassed by it. Most people aren't that brazen. Why would you think people would ask you?
love this take - i’ve heard people say natural is an investment and what if you want to sell it and i’m always confused! I dont want to sell my engagement ring and I wouldn’t see it as an investment. I never thought about my engagement as a tactic to build wealth!
No. You can’t tell the difference and natural stones are much more likely to come from unethical sources. It’s also only worth what someone will pay for it - I had a ring valued at $20k and was only able to get $3k for it after trying to sell it for months
