I tend to avoid political talk at work, mostly because there's no need for it. I have my own views, and I don't mind if others have theirs. What I object to is that a lot of political discourse lately is just people repeating inane things they've picked up on social media. I used to have friends who had different political views, but we all relied on the same facts. That no longer happens.

I completely agree. I really hate how social media has impacted the political discourse today
Not unless I’m 100% certain we are generally aligned.

Yeah… that’s been my recent take. If I feel confident we’re aligned, I don’t mind. But otherwise, I avoid.
Sad, we used to be able to agree to disagree but political talk is no longer a thing up for casual debate.
Mentor
It really is! There’s so many people I have to limit conversations with now

I discuss politics from the POV of how they impact our work or clients. I don't include my own political opinions though, just based on the facts of how decisions made by the political systems influence the business.
That being said... these days... I can tell from my conversations that most of the clients I talk to are pretty aligned with my own political beliefs.
I don't discuss it at all. I might share the news and even hear people talking about it, but I never share my own political opinions. I think they should be private.
im personally interested in politics, but i do not discuss it at work--at all. Im a Republican, and am not looking for ridicule or scapegoating-- and sadly thats where things are right now. I have colleagues who are very comfortable sharing very far left views, including anti-conservative and anti-republican sentiments, on calls or during meetings. Some people have to announce that they hate Trump at every opportunity. Me, I just smile and change the subject.
I consider myself independent that leans republican. Agree some people feel the need to take it out on one side at all times. That I don't think is productive.
