My only regret is one time when I know I used excessive force. Thankfully, everyone was okay, but I learned my lesson and have been incredibly cautious ever since. I would never forgive myself if I hurt someone.
Good for you learning from that experience. It's not an easy job, and some situations are impossibly stressful. But good for you.
No, I don't feel like I have failed at my job. I know it's a hard job. I think I get frustrated at the fact that sometimes these criminals get off in the justice system so easily and I know they will be back on the streets where I will soon be arresting them again.
As long as I work according to the laws of the State and learn to respect citizens as well as to know the limits of my authority I know I never failed not even once in doing my job.
