Why is there always such an emphasis on “how many hours” or “how late did you work”…
1. Hours are relative. Some people are more efficient than others. Just do your job.
2. I start my day working very early in the morning most days (5-6am). Then I’ll work until about dinner time, then not work much at night… will still hit about 12 hours of billed time in the day. Yet some people think that’s somehow worse than someone who works 9am-9pm or 9am-11pm with a couple hours of going out to eat so roughly the same 12 hours of billed time. Never understood it.

Less than you
Definitely less than you
55 chargeable a week

If your working more than 55, either:
1. Your bosses need to learn to delegate properly or
2. You suck at your job
Cool. When any of those put a gun to my head I’ll break the 55 required. Until then I’ll just do my job, cash my checks, and as you said there is a staff shortage so if they’d rather take their chances on the next me…..bye Felicia 🤷♂️
So far no one has answered the question
I had to stay til 5pm yesterday:(

Probably highly dependent upon your office/city and if you’re in public accounting. Most seniors I know are working until at least 11, with a lot calling it a day around 1-2am. With all the shortages, many people have to work with mostly GDS teams (staff and seniors) in India, and I’ve never had to do that before, so it means constant early morning and night meetings since most of them have little to no tax provision experience. It feels like I’m redoing the work. Just think we have way too many shortages at the senior and manager level. To answer your question, I think I work 12-16 hours a day. Weekends still putting in at least 8 a day
35-45
All returns extended, and don't work on partnership or individual returns, so normal 40 hrs. Sept-Nov is a different story though.
