Do you have to assume that every startup is going to have the San Fran startup culture, where people and entire teams are laid off with no notice whatsoever when they feel like they're no longer needed? I have the opportunity to work for a startup, and that would mean leaving behind my 4-year career in my current company. I'll be making a lot more, but longevity is concerning. Any thoughts to offer?

There’s no guarantees at any company. Start up culture is a lot more than “fear of lay offs”. If that’s your biggest concern bring it to the hiring contact and express yourself. It’s a fair question and one they deal with a lot. It get down to burn rate and milestones for investors. The cool thing is you’ll presumably have a more direct role in hitting those goals and having some equity.

Longevity and security are a myth. Make sure those numbers are large enough that they cover you, and you are getting some experience or skill that will be valuable on the resume.

Yes sir

Yes for sure do it if your confident in yourself. I did the same 30 years ago and started with the owner a manager and myself for sales and became the Senior VP/CEO of a fortune 500 id built over 20 years and it sold or was acquired by another on the market for 247 million and collection of current and ongoing customer base. So in my opinion BOSS if you are truly a hard worker go for it. If you are a 9-5 guy that likes to make sure he gets his full hour for lunch don't waste their time CHEIF. Again that's only my opinion .

I hope there is some scam going on in the name of Fujitsu India consulting.
Last week I got selected and they collected documents after week they rejected saying high expectations. Earlier they accepted for same salary hike.

Same happened for my friend today. He also got selected and they collected all the acedemic , previous company documents salary slips and they rejected him saying same.

They could have told the same when they ask for salary expectations. I feel something fishy.

Any craft beer brewers here?

In the last two year I’ve gotten more and more into alcohol free beer. The selection in my country (Europe) is still small and mainly driven by the big brands (e.g. Heineken). My idea is to start my own small brewery which only produces alcohol free beer as a bit of a pendant to the booming local craft beer industry. Any thoughts on that idea or someone who has experience in the market?

Really confused as to whether to incorporate my NY- based makeup startup as an LLC or an S-corp? Not based in NYC if that matters and no revenue yet. So, I just joined a startup. No processes, no clear strategy, just one goal: selling. Getting leads. When ever I try to build a strategy, they (founders) swamp me with blablabla stories and not a single action plan. Is this the usual at startups? Also,no real company culture. At all. No HR. I am reaaaally struggling to get a sense of belonging here. What should I expect?? Tia

Do recruiters and Hiring Managers actually review and read resumes? Also tech companies that sell SaaS, what is it with the requirements of having 10 years or more if technical sales experience? Also the ramp up period is not realistic. Average sales cycle for a reputable SaaS provider is 12-24 months. How on earth a start up can state that their ramp up period is 90 days? The company hasn’t had any new sales either. Start up CEO’s… be realistic or seek enough funding to operate.

For startup founders/people with a successful side project: How did you get the idea/inspiration for your business? I’m currently working at a Series B startup and my end goal has always been to found my own startup, but I graduated from college 2.5 years ago and I still have not had any great ideas cross my mind. I do spend a fair amount of time brainstorming. I don’t want to continue working here forever, but I’m struggling to generate that “this is it” idea to build a company for. Any advice?
