I found that anything above 86 proof is gonna have some bite to it, so a couple drops of water or a large ice cube really improves the flavor.
Honestly it's personal preference. I prefer drinking good bourbons neat. I definitely prefer ice in my Scotch and Japanese whiskey pours. I personally think everyone's palate is unique and my preference may seem like a sin to someone else 😄
Completely agree !
Frozen water, yes
Depends on the whisky but generally a dash for my dram
No ice no water.
A small cube of ice.
At 40-45%, no but cask strength yes.
For some, not for others. Barrel strength I am obv adding water. Delicate drams like blue label or oban 14 I don't bother since it doesn't need it. Most things in between I just add varying degrees of ice
If it’s a high quality whiskey, I drink it neat in a glencairn (I swear the glass makes such a difference)
If it’s not great, I put it in a cocktail. 🍹

On the rocks is my preferred
It really depends on the spicyness. Sometimes yes. Sometimes no.
I prefer cold club soda than ice for most scotch
