Yea unfortunately the shift to remote work for everyone is going to ruin those of us who have already been remote for decades because companies will calibrate your pay to COL of your home city now.

Good luck to those who are going into their first busy season! Yes, it’s daunting at first - we’ve all been there (albeit, not in a remote environment amidst a pandemic.) My best advice is to take one day at a time (marathon, not a sprint). Remember audit/tax/consulting is not life or death, and you WILL make it through. Have patience with yourself and your teams. Find a mentor! Don’t forget you can always find some moral support (read: self-deprecating humor) in your fellow fish!

If you’re in LCOL or MCOL, is your firm losing people to California firms offering remote work and California wages? I know some have left for Seiler; Citrin Cooperman; CohnReznick; Abbott, Stringham, and Lynch; Frank Rimerman; Green Hasson Janks. Just curious if it has affected your office at all and if you left for one of those firms, what is your experience so far?

Folks who’ve left ClearView, how is life on the other side, and how long did you stay before you jumped ship? Never thought I’d say this but I honestly feel unhappy in my job, and I wonder if it is just WFH related - and whether it might get better once the office opens up.

This is a long shot but wondering if anyone has experienced this. I just changed to H1B status last Oct and my bank mailed me recently after tax filing deadline (I have filed tax in time using H&R block) asking me to fill out W9 if I am a resident alien / another form if I am not. This has never happened in previous years. Does it mean I missed a form using H&R block or is it related to the status change…?
