Not sure what you mean by on the employer's front. I suppose it can be a red flag for a candidate just because we tend to be skeptical if something appears to be too easy. There are reasons why a company may just decide to hire someone right away and just get it done. But I might wonder about that, simply because anything that seems to good to be true usually is.
I don't think that in and of itself is a red flag. Before saying, "Hell yeah" and signing on the dotted line, think back to the interview for just a minute. Were there any comments about how they have had a hard time finding quality candidates? Was there a remark about turnover? On the other hand, did the interviewer say something like his attitude toward hiring is that if he finds the right person for the job, why keep going through the process? These kind of comments will give you context for the "You're hired!" moment. Don't push your luck, though. Just because the manager apparently thinks you're the best thing for the company, don't immediately hit him up for a higher salary. He would probably say, "On second thought, why rush into anything. I'll be in touch."
Honestly, yeah. I feel like it suggests that they are not serious about considering their options (and maybe they didn't have many great options to begin with?). I feel like I'm suspicious of an employer's intentions when they do something like this
It depends how well connected they are to your network and how much homework they have done.
I had an interview with a venture firm long ago where one of the partners had already spoken to all my former bosses (he knew them) and another’s wife had worked at the same (150ish person) company as me several years prior.
The latter’s interview was “my wife has told me everything i need to know about your character and fitness for this job as far as I’m concerned you’re hired. What questions do you have for me?”
So it isn’t a red flag if they’re making an informed decision. The question is how informed are they?
Not necessarily. It could just mean that they are decisive and don’t unnecessarily drag out the interview process.
