Looking to do a career pivot into VC. Have 12+ years of B2B tech marketing experience with IBM, Google, Deloitte and a number of startups. Have skills in messaging, product launches, and sales and enjoy diving deep on my personal investments (all public companies beyond a few RSUs). Have an MBA in the back pocket too. Thoughts are to join as a marketing expert and learn unique VC investment philosophy. Any advice on how to break into the VC world? Just started networking/planning.

Is IB worth the sacrifice of WLB? Obvious pay is really good but are the prestige and pay worth it if you’re planning on only doing it for a couple years?

Currently working at an IRA with great WLB. Honestly I love my job, the firm, and people I work with.

Also doing MBA part time at a T15 school. Thinking about switching to IB but I’ve done my research and I think I would burn out of IB in two years but I might be ok with that for the opportunities after.

If you’re at B4, would you get any serious consideration at M7s if you tried to matriculate right when you hit the 3 year mark (apply at 2)? I hear that a lot of MBB people do this but the standard timeline for B4 seems to be to matriculate at 4 YOE.

Do you think getting SQL/Python experience is worth the extra time for financial analyst roles coming from Big 4 tax consulting? I would love to hear any advice for shifting towards the financial modeling path from accounting. Thanks!

I’ve worked in sales for 12 years (8 years retail sales and management, 4 years inside tech sales and management). I’m feeling the burn and looking for something else in the tech field. I’m making $140k. I have a college degree but no marketing, engineering, or product experience. What other departments/jobs could I jump to and still keep close to my OTE? I’m pretty good at Salesforce and have thought about a SFDC admin type role, but that’s all I’ve thought of so far.

I’ve been told my company is changing my title from Associate Director of BD to Sales Executive. I’m concerned it reads like a title demotion. Is it just semantics? How will this look for my career development? Curious about the standard perception of Sales Executive from a seniority perspective. Where does this land on the sales roles hierarchy? Why is it that when ever I look at “entry level” jobs in IT they always want 2-4 years of experience. It’s entry level that means maybe some certifications if they didn’t major in the field or a degree in the field. Not 2-4 years already working in the field. Can someone please explain this to me?

Hello, I wanted to mention that I work as a sports commentator, specifically about soccer. I used to be one of the main journalists for Spanish media, but since I moved to Miami I feel the general passion for soccer is very different 🥲 The energy and commitment are not even close to what I felt in Spain, where some businesses would close if the match was too important.
