I don't think we should. I think it would be a disaster waiting to happen.
Though a majority of Olympic Games have gone over budget and created economic chaos, not all have. But in the long run SG doesn’t need the headache. The govt already has solid development plans for very limited land. Where on earth could the games be held - some existing facilities could be used but more would need to be built. And how to accommodate all the athletes and visitors? Yikes!
I don’t think we have enough infrastructure (hotels, accommodation, transport facilities and network, etc.) to host the volume of people that would come and “flood” the place for a few weeks. It’ll be more expensive and inconvenient to locals for that time — and after that some built facilities could remain unused unless everything is properly planned to transit into some kind of helpful alternative use — I’m not excited at all about the prospect, and I hope we don’t do this, as locals would pay the price during and after. I’d rather Singaporeans get to travel to other places to watch the games than people come here! (We have enough foreigners here already — we welcome them, but we only want the polite friendly culturally sensitive contributors, not the other kind we’ve been seeing in the news in recent times).
Singapore hosted the youth olympic.. so who knows in the future 😬😬
Let’s just stick to concerts here. That’s more than enough
There is no infrastructure to hold an event like that. And I believe it would be a waste of resources to create this infrastructure.
😂😂😂 did you learn nothing from the farcical Youth Olympic Games?
