Having a cert isn't going to automatically make you more valuable. There are some indirect ways it can help, however. It can give you credibility, as it does what it says, it certifies that you learned things and were tested. In that sense it can make you a more serious candidate. And potential employers may see the cert as a risk mitigation tool. It seems to ensure that you won't commit any expensive blunders once you're hired. Over time, the investment may pay off, but it may not increase your compensation right away.
This is very clear and helpful. Thank you for sharing

MBAs help you get a better starting position assuming it’s from a top 10 business school. Otherwise no to both.
Great point. Thanks for sharing. The top schools are quite expensive

PMP on a marketing resume? Barely moves the needle—maybe $5-10K at companies with heavy project management needs (agencies, enterprise marketing ops). It's more relevant for transitioning into PMO roles than staying in marketing.
MBA adds more ($15-25K), but mostly at manager+ levels and specific companies that value the credential. Neither certificate magically unlocks $20K without corresponding role/scope changes.
Better $5K investment: advanced platform certifications (Meta Blueprint, Google Ads), analytics training, or building case studies that prove revenue impact. That's what actually triggers higher offers.
