Now that I got promoted to manager, I’m kind of missing the camaraderie that came along with being out on the floor with everyone else. Is that normal?

I totally felt that when I was first promoted as well. But I still think you can keep close bonds with the people on the floor.

I think that's a normal reaction! As much as we all complain about the floor, the camaraderie is pretty great.

True! Having good work friends can make all the difference in getting through the day

Totally normal

Definitely normal! I missed the bonding over complaining about management haha

I'd be lying if I said I didn't miss this as well. Now I'm probably the one being made fun of haha

You can still have that with a couple trusted TM's that understand they will still be accountable, I'm still close friends with some of memebers of my team but when they are messing around they know I'll be on top of them, as long as you are fair with everybody and apply the rules evenly it should work out. Besides you gain a new group of people to be friends with, your new peers.

Great advice! I'm not the OP but I'm taking this advice to heart as I work towards becoming a manager

Completely normal and totally understandable. You can still try to form friendly relationships but it won't be exactly the same

Hi, I'm an employee at a hotel chain who works remotely. I've been working remotely for over a year now and I love it! The company I work for is very supportive of remote workers, which is great.

But there's one thing that's been bothering me: it's hard to get feedback on my work when I'm not in the office. It would be great if there was some kind of system that let me know how my performance was being evaluated while I'm working on projects from home.
