Varies so much it’s hard to say. It’s a massive field. Major city/small town? Big firm/tiny firm/in house? Immigration/Family/Criminal Defense/Corporate/IP? 1 year of experience/40 years of experience?
I’ve seen as low as $15 an hour to as high as $400k/year.
I make around $120k. 3 years of experience. Major city, started in biglaw, now in house. Corporate. I don’t have a paralegal certificate, but I do have a bachelors degree.
I personally know paralegals who make $400k. Of course they are very senior paralegals at massive law firms. They work long hours and support Fortune 500 companies.
Like I said, it’s a range that varies widely based on a multitude of factors.
It depends on the state, years of experience and area of practice… in NY it could start in the 50k or 65k
I agree with what everyone is saying. The range varies by area of law, experience and location. In the Midwest entry level can be as low as $15 per hour but with experience you can make 6 figures. I think the average is about 50-60k with some experience.
This is about as vague as asking for average salaries of company owners.
