Traverse city recs for 2-3 days with a toddler? Best hotel/resort to stay at? I don’t mind splurging, it’s our first vacation as a family of three
Please comment 2 things: 1) Your base salary 2) How much money you spend a month ignoring rent (think typical credit card bill) Trying to figure out if I’ve been overspending
Do you tip the housekeeping staff at the hotel? If so, how much? And do you expense this or consider it part of your per diem?
What’s the best credit card for hotel point accumulation? Just started and have no credit history. I’m considering going to a chase bank and asking for the CSR in person, but I doubt I’ll get it 😭😭
How do we use the 35K point Marriott vouchers from the 2 free night promotion? I tried booking a vacation stay and Marriott took the 70K points directly from my account instead of using the voucher.
I never fly delta, but have a skymiles account. I’ve linked with my starwood account but haven’t seen any miles show up for my hotel stays. Any idea why?
Will be short 125K miles for Delta Diamond Medallion. Should I do a mileage run this weekend?
Hi UK 🐠s, I’m a US citizen getting married in India in late April. My sister (US citizen), bro-in-law (UK citizen) and nephew (US & UK citizen) are residing in London. Is it currently possible for them to travel out of the country given the lock down?
I'm a United person but got a fast track for platinum on delta so I was thinking of switching. Anyone have some pros and cons of united vs delta?
Airlines keep making me check my carry-on. I definitely saw space on today's flight though. Any tips? I don't want to have to wait for baggage claim
Booked a flight on Delta after my AA was canceled and I got Zone 1 despite having no status. Did I miss something? It's a small plane so maybe everyone is Zone 1? LGA-ORD
Have the CSR, if I downgrade to the preferred, do I lose the UR travel redemption value (1point ~ 1.5c)? Is redemption value specific to a card? How does UR value work if you have multiple cards?
Has anyone had Marriott gift you the next level of status if you’re only a few nights short of the requirement at end of year?
What is the rough monetary equivalent of 25,000 American Airlines miles? Trying to get an understanding so I have a fair ask in my complaint letter
I joined consulting for the fast-paced lifestyle, travel, etc. Now that that is mostly gone, what are some other industries that have the same caliber of intensity/travel/lifestyle? I need that sort of thing.
Wow yes Delta also called out the Galaxy Note 7 to be powered down. Typing this from my iPad.....
Any good ideas for a couples trip in late Sep for one week, leaving from SF? Ideal would be road trip or direct flight of less than ~6 hours, more nature than city.
New Yorker moving to Chicago- been Delta platinum for years, should I go to American or United? (intl mileage is important)
United at LGA can suck my fucking balls
Last swallow of beer before getting up for 0600 flight getting chased with Advil and a sleeping pill. YOLO. (To be clear I didn't drink enough to mess with sleeping pill.)
So the recruiter where I was interviewing called last Friday and said everyone really liked me; we talked salary and start dates. I was told an official offer would be over by EOD or early this week.
Had an interview with a firm in NYC I’m really interested in earlier this week. It felt like it went well and like the partners (including the hiring partner) liked me. What is the general time between interview and offer/rejection?
Are people still seeing these fully remote positions in Big Law available/people joining your firm through them? I saw many in the spring, but not sure now that we are closer to September.
I have flu like symptoms, but can’t get tested for covid and getting a doc appt seems impossible. Do I basically need to wait until I’m critical or extremely sick to see someone? Any experience here?
Would you sell your points to others if you could ? What would the lowest $ / 10,000 points you would take ?
Saw over 15% jump for homeowners insurance vs last year’s same policy. Is this due to high material cost or what? Is this widespread impact on home insurance premiums?
Need some advice - been at the D for a year and have been on the same implementation project for over a year. Have a technical background and am thinking of starting to look for exits to industry but also am curious what strategy projects are and if I would be interested in the work. Is it worth networking onto a strategy project at the D or should I just continue to look for industry exists and then go b school and then try for MBB/T2 ?
What do you look for when interviewing a junior associate (2-3 year) for an in-house associate counsel position? What are your expectations with respect to substantive knowledge? I have some interviews for associate counsel positions at some later-stage startup tech firms and would love some advice on how to stand out from all the other biglaw junior associates.
BCG 🐠 or anyone else who recently interviewed with BCG - is there a new interview format? If so, can someone please share this format. I saw someone mentioned online test, and math test etc. instead of case studies.
Can someone please help me navigate concerns about the vaccine? Literally all I hear from Fox News zombies saying big pharma and Bill gates are pushing the vax for personal profits only and Covid is not that deadly. What has worked with those in the inner network circle? What hasn’t? My pregnant wife who is nurse received both doses and I think a couple relatives believe the baby is going to be a cyborg.
I have a New York LCA and want start working from Texas... I already started the amendment process and was told that the amendment should be filed before March end. So I booked my flight tickets for April start. However, it seems like the filing is taking longer. Do you guys know if I can still go and file the time under New York? Is there a risk? Would anyone check my flight records? P.S. My LCA is filed but H1B amended petition is not filed yet. Lawyers are waiting for certified LCA.
Where are folks mostly exiting to? I was hired as an experienced manager and I have been thinking about moving back to the industry. It’s been really hard adjusting to the Covid schedule with family and kids. I am looking for a change but also scared to start the process of looking and interviewing. Just venting folks! 😔
What to do when HR for an in-house role sends you an email with four interviews set up for next week without having had a phone conversation first? I have no sense of what the salary is for this role. I do not want to waste my time or the time of the four people I am scheduled to interview with. I thought that with most in-house roles, there would be a conversation about that first to make sure everyone is on the same page. 😩
Anyone ever used LegacyBox or simular digitizing services? Trying to pick best one for dad on Father's Day. Would choose Costco but that seems harder to gift
I currently work at a very ”hyped” food delivery tech company. I’ve been there for 1,5 years now, but the pay is low, bad company culture and I don’t feel appreciated for the work I do. So i’m overall not to happy there, and looking for a new job. However every interview I’ve had so far ask why I want to leave such a ”great” company after less than 2 years? I don’t want to shittalk my job but it’s really makes me feel like i should stay another 6m just so I don’t look bad. What would you do?
1yr of work experience at MBB -- prior experience was in non-profit / community development. What exits could allow me to stay in the private sector that aren't consulting? I think exiting to Tech or a bank is unlikely with no prior experience; I want to eventually return to non profit work, but still want to spend the next few years in the private sector (tbh, just for the experience and so my MBA didn't go to waste). Any ideas?
