I do it to avoid getting distracted by the constant flood of emails and messages. I've found putting calendar blocks in during the day for focus work makes it easier to stay on task by communicating to my team that I will be unresponsive during them. As long as yours isn't routinely causing you to miss important meetings, you should be fine. If something urgent comes up, you can always make an exception and be hailed as a team player for doing so.

Thanks!
I intentionally block off 30 minutes after a meeting. Not only do I not want back to back meetings, but I actually need it to jot notes and regroup before hopping on the next call. I don't think blocking off a total of 4 hours a week is a big deal at all.

You have a good practice I think I’ll emulate.
I have a lot of time blocks on Monday and Friday. Mainly because when people would schedule meetings, they would rarely show up, and then I had to rework my day around it. Figure I’m available more than I’m not. Should note that I do have a relaxed manager too.

Yay for your relaxed manager!
If you've been doing it and it's working, then I suppose you're not pushing it at all. It's pretty ordinary for people to put meetings on their calendars. I imagine it would only look suspicious if the amount of meetings was bizarrely excessive.
