Does anyone else feel weirdly guilty about wanting to leave accounting? Like it’s some kind of betrayal of the time, the effort, the tests, the money spent, the sacrifices made. I tell myself I earned this career… but what if I don’t want it anymore? And what if all that sunk cost is keeping me in a job that doesn’t fit? I know rationally it’s okay to change, but emotionally? I feel like I’m quitting on a version of myself.

Came back to school in August with a cruise ship still sitting on my stage. We walked away from Anything Goes the day after the sitzprobe because of the quarantine. Still taking the wind out of my sails.

We are here now, but not able to stage shows. Logic says, "Do a radio show!" Just not sure I want to subject the kids to the emptiness of that performance style given the Zoom life they've been living. The production of it could be fun though.

This is the 2nd company that rejected me after the 2nd round of interviews. Latest one left a bitter taste as I felt I was doing good during the interview process and felt I was really a good fit. On to the next one.

Expecting an offer this week or early next week, but want to know when you start negotiating the salary? When you receive the call from the company or wait until receiving the formal offer letter? I need to get out of EY and I’ve known for a while but I’m terrified to start somewhere from scratch and not be good at it. I’ve been with EY Assurance NYC for 7 years and I was just rated “above peers” so I know I can stay here for a while but I’m pretty miserable. How did people in this position finally decide it was time to go? Any regrets or advice on how to navigate this?
