“I don’t hire men. They’re too ambitious.”
Holidays are rough. Lots of grief and loss. All of my abusive relationships were in the winter-ptsd. A lot of past trauma around this time. Then , family trauma. Whenever I go home for the holidays, I regress and turn back into the little girl people used to emotionally and verbally abuse, exclude and reject/abandon. Any advice on self care? Or similar experience with family?
OKRP or Laughlin Constable- which has the better creative opportunities? Not familiar with Chicago market. Any info would be great.

I work in FDD, in healthcare life sciences. Will this pigeon hole me to HCLS industry or is the experience in general valued by other industries?
The amount of self-aggrandizement in our industry can get overwhelming, but it seems integral to winning work and advancing one’s career. Do people really respond to this? How do you stay grounded?
New to Toronto, moved to the west end of town/ just past - in Etobicoke. I celebrate my 40th a few days after NYE/NYD - would love some recommendations on moderately priced but nice ambiance restaurants for myself + husband, and my extended family. Everyone is scattered throughout (Hamilton, Barrie, Lyle, Newmarket, North York). Don’t want anything too fancy but don’t really know where or what is good and not downtown.
Any recommendations? (Open to GTA of course).
What do you do to recharge when you’re emotionally exhausted? Working out and going outside (in TX heat 🥵) isn’t helping.
Let's have an honest, educated discussion about the new health care bill. What are your thoughts and concerns? What do you like/dislike about it?
How do you avoid alcohol? My social activities with friends still revolve around alcohol and I find it fun, but lately, it’s not really worth it. I get hungover on Sunday followed by 3 days of depression and feeling empty, and back to life on Thursdays. My weeks are fine when I don’t drink. After investigation, it seems like they all skip the depression, so I assume my body just doesn’t vibe with alcohol and I should make a change. So, how do you deal with peer pressure?
Dating a guy who won’t give me a tight hug because he claims to be a “southern gentleman”. Wtf

Best book YOU read in high school (for me that's a shocking amount of years ago) and why it was the best! Go!
I’m going to be able to purchase a novel for each grade level, 9-12, this coming school year. I’m looking for suggestions. What I have available currently is pretty dated and my own personal affinity is for the more classical novels, so I was hoping to find some more modern ideas that my kids may relate to easier.
Does anyone know where to get some good posters for my English classroom. I teach Secondary. Shakespeare is my favorite. I would like like something cool and different.
I read about the banning of “Anne Frank” and “Maus” and I got a sinking feeling in my soul. Anyone out there have any thoughts on this? Does this call “Fahrenheit 451” to anyone else’s mind, or am I going off the deeper end of this pool?
What do you think of IXL? Our district has a subscription and is really pushing the diagnostic this year (it’s replacing CAASP testing). I’m now trying to use the post-diagnostic suggestions to retrain students in areas skills they are behind. Any thoughts? Suggestions? I teach both ELA and Math.
I'm so proud! On the last day before break, my class of mostly reluctant readers read to a kindergarten class and they were amazing. I never saw them so animated or with such big smiles on their faces! I feel grateful and blessed.
Hey teachers 💜 I'm leaving teaching, at least temporarily, but I'm having trouble finding work. I have an English Education degree and three years of experience, and I don't know how to transfer that over. Applying to entry-level office work and editorial jobs right now, but has anyone else left/taken a break? Where did you end up working?
Have any of you ever gotten approval from admin to replace a classic novel with one that is more culturally relevant and/or modern for the class demographic?
After 17 yrs of teaching L A at a regular h. s., I now teach Srs on Independent study. The once a wk class sessions go well, but it’s hard to motivate them to do work on their own. Any ideas? 🥴

I'm assigned to teach an 8th grade Modern Film & Literature elective F2F -- I've been teaching online with an established curriculum for the past two years, and I'm a history person-- not so much a literary guru, or modern for that matter! :)
Does anyone have suggestions, course outlines, or an online classroom/website I could review?
I have tons of 'resources' but I'm not entirely sure where to begin.
