Frankenstein is a student favorite!
I enjoy doing Pride and Prejudice. I have them look at it from the perspective of choosing life partners. Happy marriage = happy home = happy life. No one wants to end up with a silly Lydia or untrustworthy Wickham. More subtly, ending with a Mrs. Bennet you cannot respect or a Mr. Bennet who doesn’t respect you.
If you have the opportunity to do something more current, I love (and students love) Never Let Me Go.
Thank you! I will check that out!
I stopped teaching Macbeth and started teaching comedies to my Brit Lit Seniors. I've done 12th Night and A Midsummer Night's Dream, both of which my Seniors have loved.
Yes! So much fun to do comedies! I teach The Taming of the Shrew in addition to Macbeth.
Paradise Lost, Dr. Faustus, Richard III, Brave New World, 1984, War of the Worlds, Wuthering Heights.
Great choices; I have taught Paradise Lost before. Thanks for sharing !
A Modest Proposal, Gulliver’s Travels, The Importance of Being Earnest
Thank you! I already teach The Importance if Being Earnest; one of my favorites !
