Does your company encourage time off during the holidays, or is it treated like a normal work period?
At my current company, many people take time off and it’s encouraged so employees can recharge, which I really appreciate. At my previous company, working during the holidays was much more common and expected. It really showed me how different workplace cultures can be when it comes to balance and rest. How is it handled at your workplace?

Our team kind of works together. Like for Black Friday and day after Christmas we basically rotate. Last year I worked day after Christmas. This year it’ll be the Black Friday. Other than that we all essentially work around each other tbh

Thats really good practice

We're mostly able to take time off over the holidays. There would be some support staff, and some people might get a call if there's some urgent issue, but most everyone is free to travel and spend time with family and all that.

If its emergency then we can understand

I’ve never had an issue with taking time off around the holidays. Typically, our team likes someone to be around but it doesn’t have to be one person from every small team. Usually there’s at least one person working and it’s not an issue

I am a registered sales assistant which means I have my series 7. I also have the 63 and my Life & Health license. I was a financial advisor but the role is commission only so I decided to take a role as an assistant for some time to learn etc. I really like my role, but I only make 32k a year and after taxes I only take home about 25k. I have a gut feeling that I’m not being paid market value but it’s tough to find comparable salaries. Do you think $15.38/hr is a fair wage in this case?

I have an offer and want to negotiate

1. London base salary but I have to absorb all the expenses (train + stay)
I am thinking to negotiate to

2. home base salary and have my expenses paid for

I know that's depends on the amount I have to travel (and potentially stay) but at the moment this is unknown. Past 8 months was just twice a month + 2 nights stay.

The only thing I know is it won't be every week, the return trian ticket is about £80-100, depends I could plan ahead.
