Additional Posts in Salary Negotiations
Im not searching for a new job but an acquaintance reached out about a similar role at a similar energy company.Turns out 2 ppl threw my name in the hat. I looked into it and the position was posted 2 weeks ago.Their director wants to meet.I bet pay is one of the first things to be discussed so that no one’s time is wasted.Am I crazy for not wanting to entertain it for less than 20-25% base pay increase? Is it selfish to ask for more? I’m sure most salary conversations end in negotiation anyways?
Hey! Any Google folks know if it’s possible to negotiate fully remote if a contract role is hybrid? Personally, I don’t want to relocate and go to the office on a contract role given the current economy. Plus, I’m assuming contractors are the first to go in layoffs. I just think it’s a fair trade off if I’d be allowed to work fully remote. I’m also trying to have flexibility to manage my Airbnb business in a different country. Same time zone as the home office if I’d travel weeks at a time.

I feel like I have seen lots of posts like this lately. I would simply go back to HR and ask if there was some sort of mistake. Let themk know you had discussed X salary with the manager and you were told that would be fine.
Tell them thanks but without the agreed upon salary, I must decline. I pray you find a qualified candidate.
Be cautious if you need the job, because an attempt to negotiate further could cost you the job offer. Chances are they realized another suitable candidate was willing to take less, and they adjusted their offer accordingly. If you need a job, I would take it, but keep job hunting for something that pays better.
Depends how bad you need this job.
If not essential, I’d ask for 5% above that initial number as payback for wasting your time. Likely they’ll withdraw the offer but whatever.
If you need it, try to negotiate to within 5%, and keep interviewing.
Chat with the recruiter and just clarify that the hiring manager said xyz and if there’s any way to meet there

It's rough out there and companies know it. They understand exactly what they are doing so you might get them to.come up a little, but there's no reality where you get them to offer that initially discussed salary. You need to decide if the role is worth their offer to you, and then go from there.
