Op nobody really knows what new pathways are going to look like, it’s definitely true more scrutiny is being put on promotion after 1-year. But equally, we aren’t the same firm we were even 3-4 years ago and also the quality of the new early talent that came through in recent years is understandably on average not that great compared to how things were.
It’s not just intakes but also experienced hires. 3 things: 1) we opened the floodgates. Simply through scale things will decline. 2) COVID and WFH limits development. I am a big WFH proponent but this is a fact. 3) by design, the actual work Deloitte sell and deliver is of lower calibre. More implementation, more operate. Lower margin, lower risk.
This is reflected in pay being lower than it was in the 2010s, adjusted for inflation. And in the career ladder now being slower and workloads being lighter.
I don’t think that is true. The Manager grade is still more than achievable in your first 5 years as Associate Director is equivalent to Senior Manager elsewhere.
Internal promotions depending on department 100k guaranteed base would be Director? But total comp would typically be SM or AD
I’m a pwc SM on 115. Pwc1 doesn’t know what he/she is talking about

What is the pay do Sr manager.
Basically which is the first grade where you start on at least £100k?
AD gets you over the £100k boundary, it’s possible at SM with bonus but unusual. Typical path to AD from graduate currently is about 8-10 years. I suspect it’ll go more like 10+ in the next few years given the low attrition we have combined with poor growth. The ladder to Partner has pretty rapidly been pulled up the last few years at Deloitte.

I recently got made an offer for Senior consultant for 85-90. Refused due to low pay

Sorry, I meant SM* not SC
Deloitte always had super inflated titles compared to the rest of the industry. Everyone knows titles are totally fake and any recruiter will research the typical career path and expected years in each role while looking at candidates. Basically it does not matter.
