Effort only seems to matter when the right people are watching. You can bust your behind all shift and it barely gets noticed, but someone else does the bare minimum at the perfect moment and suddenly they are a star. It messes with your motivation more than the work itself. How do you keep caring about doing a good job when recognition feels random at best?

Sadly, this is very true. As a manager I make it a point to let people know I see the extra effort they are putting in and the job that they are doing. I really feel like more praise in these companies would make a world of difference.

That feeling is completely valid. When recognition feels inconsistent, it helps to focus on standards you set for yourself and the skills you’re building, not just who’s watching. Still, it’s okay to want fairness—sometimes it’s worth advocating for your work or finding an environment where effort is seen more consistently.

I don’t look for recognition from others. I have my standards and always work to those standards. And if I get recognized, I get recognized. If I don’t, then oh well. Favoritism is a different story though…

That’s tough. If you’re having regular check ins with your manager maybe you can bring up all the great work you’ve been doing and telling them how it ties to your overall goals.

Should I get a CPA for Transaction Due Diligence?
I’m a new grad working in FDD and I’m trying to decide if becoming a CPA is worth it. I do not plan on staying in accounting in the future. I’m more interested in strategy work. I certainly do not want to do Audit. Would you recommend getting the CPA considering my career aspirations? Do you think it’s worth it? If not, what is the best way to use my time efficiently?

Is it totally weird to request another meeting after getting a job offer to make sure it's a right fit? 🤔

I've noticed that sometimes I still have lingering questions. ❔

I've been burnt out by toxic work environments, so I don't want to make another mistake. 🙄

How would you handle this logistics of this meeting? (Timing - after the offer but with time before you start? How to phrase the reason why?)

Thanks! 🔅☺️
