Engineering wants to delay a launch because one edge case still is not fully solved, but leadership already mentioned the feature to clients and now everyone is treating the date like it cannot move. The issue is the product works for most users, just not cleanly in one scenario that will definitely come up eventually. Would you ship knowing support will probably feel the pain first?

Ship now, fix the bug later.

Maybe knowing the bug is out in production will motivate the engineering team to push through and deploy the fix sooner.

There’s probably more bugs you don’t know about. If you wait for software to be 100% perfect, you’ll never ship anything.

I’d ship it.

How many users are going to run into it? How painful is it going to be? Is it really an edge case? IMO…you can release it if the gap is well documented and the intention is clear that it’ll be fixed…but I think it lands a lot better for trust to see something ship that’s fully well thought out.

I will also say…planning wise why wasn’t the edge case prepped for earlier? What can be done to ensure the same mistake isn’t made twice? Does your team need more wiggle room on the dates moving forward?

My boss assigns projects with unclear expectations and provides no guidance on how to achieve them.

I've asked for help, and, to avoid a long post, she expects me to figure it out. Perhaps you go through this too, but when I don't have a clear guide on completing big projects, it paralyzes me because I don't know where to start. On top of that, I have anxiety, so "it has to be perfect".

How do you approach projects when your boss plays the "guess what's in my head" game?

I interviewed at Amazon for a PM role in Dec. 2020 and was ultimely rejected. I was told I have to wait a year to reapply. Fast forward to June 2022, another recruiter reaches out to me re: a PM role. I pass the screening interview, and move on to the virtual on site interview stage. I randomly get a call from the recruiter telling me there is now a TWO YEAR reapply policy in place so I'm not eligible to interview for any PM roles until Dec. 2022. Anyone ever heard of this policy? Seems strange

I got invited to a second round interview with a big company. The title sounds more senior than my current title, but the work responsibilities feel like a step down. I am wondering if I should still interview (to see if they will consider me for my desired role instead or at least, get some interview practice for when a better opportunity comes along). Thoughts? Is it ok to reject the offer if they make one, on the grounds of the role not being a good fit for me.

So our CEO asked me and a colleague to give a Start/Stop/Continue Mid-year review of our CIO who’s been our Head of Product for a few months (Our Head of Product left because of him when that guy came in)

We have a lot to say and none of the PMs approves the way he operates.

My concern is that it’s meant to be transparent but if we’re honest and he gets called off, he will figure out it comes from us.

Never been in that situation before, is it better to be completely honest or a bad idea?
