Ever accepted a job, realized you should’ve asked for more (pay, flexibility, title, etc.), and then tried to bring it up after you started?

Did it work or backfire?

Unless your responsibilities are far different than discussed and documented, I’d wait at until closer to your review cycle. Otherwise if it’s something major, I’d look for another job.

Good advice. Thanks

Wouldn’t personally suggest this as this could go wrong very fast. Could always stuck with it for a year or switch departments.

Thanks for the advice.

ooh yeah I'd wait on that one. Tally up your job description and what you're actually doing and have the convo in about 6-12 months I'd say. Best of luck!

Thank you! I’ll try that approach.

I Undervalued myself onetime. Took me 4 years and asking for raises ( prior to my evaluation). At year 4 they told me no more but my work load increased and increased. But it was a great learning experience for a new job!
After I knew my worth, I found a better job making $20k more a year. Been at this job for 6 years and have no problem asking for raises if I earn it. I make $38K more than when I started.

like

Yeah unfortunately i think you just have to suck it up if you are doing the job you were hired to do. You can ask for a raise/ negotiate at your first yearly review. But you look foolish if you try to negotiate again right after accepting the offer.

Thanks for the reality check.

Not sure if this was spam, but that sounds like a good start.

That sounds like a bad idea.

Probably is!

Good Luck to you if you try to negotiate after the fact. You won't get what you're asking for.

Stupid Question- We have been thinking for IVF and trying to understand with this process, is there any difference in the health and life of the child as compared to a child born without IVF. I did ask this with our doctor and he said casually its all same. This is not to question any doctor but just to really understand what is going to be different with the kid. This is not very old technology and not much studies as well.

My current job I make 150k plus a 20% bonus and an annual cost of living raise anywhere from 2-3.5%. Have been in my current position about a year. Things have been a bit bumpy (not a me issue) I have a new supervisor and was recently given 7 direct reports (I had zero before). The new position while comes with a significant raise is a move to California. Any thoughts?

Should I Go Back and Reneg? Recently I was offered a role as a Project Implementation Manager (In Retirement Services) .The salary range for Colorado residents was 65-89K. I’m located in NY so the recruiter said he would try to get me more. Ultimately he came back at 90K which is a bit inline with that I was seeing on Glassdoor but approx looks like I may leave 10-12K on the table. I accepted already but may get an offer from another HR company in account management around 90-100K. Need advice

Started a new job a year ago, high performer. My manager suggested a promotion to Product Manager since that‘s the work I’m doing, but that would be a 50% raise. Higher ups decided instead to make a “new role” (not PM), that has no analog in the company and is hard to price via Glassdoor, etc. I feel like this is to limit my promotion salary to something like 10% from where it currently is. Is there anything I can do? FWIW: I have a PhD from top 5 program and am working in that field. Thanks!

Hi there. What is considered a good salary for a project manager?

like

I’m interviewing for a marketing manager role at a company based in SF. I’m genuinely excited about the role and the company but we’ve yet to discuss salary. I expect to be asked at some point, but my research has given me a VERY broad range. So I’m here to do a bit more research. I’ve got 5 very relevant years of experience and will have an associate manager directly reporting to me. Are there any marketers out there who can share their salaries in similar regions and experience levels?

I’ve been approached my by company that one of our large clients (who im currently project managing for) is looking for a consultant of sorts, and if they hire us, I’d be the first person asked to take on this consultant role. This isn’t something my company typically offers and would greatly change the scope of my role. Has anyone ever taken on a role like this? If so, were you able to negotiate a percentage of the consulting fee? Or was it a bump in salary during the project?

Posting this for a friend. She has 20+ years experience as a resource manager and is is trying to leave Microsoft. She’s currently making 157K base. what salary expectations should she have. She has interviews with Amazon, Deloitte, and a few others I don’t remember lol.

I was approached on LinkedIn for an early career recruiting role in DFW, TX. I don't have direct experience, but I have the university experience/connections from working in career services. This is the first time I've considered work outside of higher education. I said my salary expectations are minimum $90k and that didn't seem to be an issue. Am I asking too little, too much? How can I know I'm getting the best salary and not just settling at the low end of the range?
